Educational Farm Activities

A visit to Southern Belle Farm is about more than having fun. Our educational demonstrations help students understand agriculture and the animals and crops that are part of life on a working farm.

Field trip groups can visit our:

  • Honeybee Exhibit: Students can learn about honeybees and their important role in agriculture and our food supply.
  • Dairy Barn Demonstration: A hands-on look at dairy farming and the animals that help provide food for our communities.
  • Pumpkin Demonstration: Students can learn more about pumpkins and how they grow as they experience fall on the farm.

These experiences help bring classroom lessons to life and give students a better understanding of where their food comes from.

Every Student Gets a Mini Pumpkin

Fall wouldn’t be complete without a pumpkin!

Each student receives a take-home mini pumpkin from our field trip pumpkin patch. It’s a fun way for students to bring a little piece of their farm experience home with them.

Don’t Forget Lunch!

Field trip groups are assigned a lunch time and a space in our covered, staffed pavilion.

Groups are welcome to bring a packed lunch, which is a popular option for school groups. Lunch can also be purchased for an additional charge at our Bakery or Mimi’s Kitchen. Handwashing stations and restroom facilities are available for field trip groups.

More to Explore During Your Visit

Want to pick up a few treats or farm goods while you’re here?

Our Country Market & Bakery and seasonal U-Pick fields are also open during field trips for additional purchases. Depending on what’s in season, visitors may find fresh produce, homemade baked goods, ice cream, gifts, and other Southern Belle Farm favorites.

Why Choose a Farm Field Trip?

A farm field trip gives students the chance to step outside the classroom and experience agriculture firsthand.

At Southern Belle Farm, students can see crops growing, learn about farm animals, explore agricultural demonstrations, and participate in activities that encourage curiosity and hands-on learning.

For younger students especially, these experiences can help make lessons about food, farming, animals, and nature more memorable.
